*Role of Child Scientists Crucial in the Age of AI: MLA*

The Regional-level project presentation under the Bihar Child Science Research Programme (BCSRP) 2025 began on Saturday at the Regional Secondary School, Jibachh Chowk, Sapta, Madhubani. The two-day programme is being organized under the directions of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Patna, and under the aegis of Science for Society, Patna.
The programme was inaugurated by Madhubani MLA Madhav Anand, along with DPO (Secondary Education) Kundan Kumar, DPO SSA Shubham Kushodhan, Patron and Director of Regional Secondary School Dr. R.S. Pandey, Academic Coordinator and Principal Dr. Manoj Kumar Jha, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Jha, Prof. Dr. Kumar G. Raut, Dr. Meena Jha, and Prof. Arindam Kumar.
Child Scientists Will Drive Innovation: MLA
Addressing the gathering, MLA Madhav Anand said that child scientists possess immense potential to promote innovation, especially in agriculture-related research, which is highly beneficial for society. He emphasized that in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the role of child scientists will become even more significant in the future.
Conservation of Natural Resources Is Essential: Education Officers
DPO Secondary Education Kundan Kumar stressed the urgent need to conserve natural resources, warning that excessive exploitation is a serious concern. He urged child scientists to find solutions through research to preserve resources for future generations.
DPO SSA Shubham Kushodhan said that participants from different districts would promote innovation through their projects. He added that creating scientific awareness among children is the primary responsibility of teachers.
Science Is Key to National Development
Dr. R.S. Pandey stated that the development of society and the nation is possible only through science. He highlighted challenges such as maintaining soil fertility and water conservation, adding that children are presenting innovative solutions to these issues.
Academic Coordinator Dr. Manoj Kumar Jha said that natural resource management for food security and environmental health is a highly relevant theme, and the students have done commendable work in this area.
Selected Students to Participate at State Level
Regional Coordinator Krishna Kumar informed that students selected from this programme will participate in the state-level event. He also expressed the desire to host a national-level programme in Madhubani in the future.
Focus on Agriculture, Climate, and Innovation
Prof. Dr. Kumar G. Raut emphasized the need for more work on better food production, storage, processing, and the impact of climate on agriculture.
Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Jha noted that such programmes encourage innovation among children.
Prof. Arindam Kumar called the Bihar Child Science Research Programme an excellent platform for nurturing young innovators.
Dr. Meena Jha highlighted the importance of promoting agriculture-based innovation, stating that Bihar is an agriculture-dominated state.
Teacher Bageshwari Devi described the programme as a great opportunity for children to explore new ideas, while Academic Director E. Pratyush Parimal said that child scientists are the future of the nation and their innovations will guide society.
Participation from Seven Districts
More than 50 child scientists from seven districts—Madhubani, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Supaul, Araria, Purnea, and Madhepura—are participating in the regional programme. The participants were selected at the district level and are presenting their research projects over two days.
Theme and Sub-Themes of the Programme
The main theme of BCSRP 2025 is “Natural Resource Management for Food Security and Environmental Health.”
The five sub-themes include:
Better production, storage, and processing of food materials
Conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of bio-resources
Study of weeds and their alternative uses
Soil conservation and management
Weather, climate, and agriculture
Several educationists and teachers, including Dr. Dhirendra Kumar, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Prof. Anjeet Kumar Thakur, Sitaram Yadav, Ravindra Jha, Amit Kumar Shahi, Radha Mohan Jha, Shruti Khanna, Shailendra Kumar Pandey, Shailendra Mohan Jha, Rishi Kumar Jha, Sumit Kumar Chaudhary, Sweta Kumari, Navneet Kumar, Pawan Kumar Singh, Premnath Gosai, and Neha Kumari of Watson High School, were also present on the occasion.
