Smoke from Autoplate Machine Switchboard Plug in Maternity Ward of Sadar Hospital, Panic Ensues

On Tuesday morning around 10 a.m., sudden chaos broke out in the maternity ward of Sadar Hospital. A short circuit occurred in the plug of the autoplate machine used for sterilizing medical equipment, producing a loud sound and filling the entire labor room with smoke.
Panic among patients, staff brought situation under control
As soon as the smoke spread, panic gripped the women admitted in the ward and their attendants. Patients complained of difficulty in breathing, and people rushed out of the ward in fear. Seeing the situation worsen, the medical staff present on the spot acted swiftly and unplugged the machine from the switchboard. Within a short time, the situation returned to normal and the patients felt relieved.
Autoplate machine was left running, switch not turned off
According to information, the autoplate machine used for sterilization is fully automatic. At the time of the incident, the machine’s switch had not been turned off, due to which the auto power supply remained continuously active. This led to the short circuit, leaving black marks on the switchboard.
Fortunately, no patients or medical staff were harmed in the incident. According to hospital management, the situation was brought under control in time, and after the smoke cleared, the labor room resumed functioning normally.
Sources informed that hospital management has been notified of the incident. The technical team has been directed to inspect the machine and switchboard to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
People visiting the hospital said that since the number of patients in the maternity ward is usually high, regular inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment is essential.
It is noteworthy that all services in the labor room have now been restored to normal.
